This was our fourth visit here and the hotel ever disappoints. A 30 minute transfer from Innsbruck Airport makes it the perfect location for a short winter break (we stayed 5 nights). The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming, the food excellent and the spa divine
I was able to spend a week with my partner and my 16-year-old son at the Activehotel Bergkönig.
The reception was very friendly, as was all the staff during our stay, be it reception, service or cleaning staff.
The food was always excellent, the breakfast buffet was plentiful and beautifully prepared and of high quality with egg dishes made to order.
The "Jause" outstanding, especially the Sunday Jause. You were even allowed to tap your own drinks.
Dinner consisted of a nice salad buffet, starter, soup, main course and dessert. Everything was beautifully presented and very tasty. You can choose from 3 menus, one of which is vegetarian, and we also offered an alternative menu every day.
The whole hotel was impressively clean, wherever you looked it was always spotless.
The spa is spacious, the highlight is certainly the outdoor pool, which could perhaps be 1-2 degrees warmer, otherwise beautiful with changing lighting. The saunas are beautiful and spacious. I particularly liked the Finnish outdoor sauna.
What I particularly appreciated as a smoker was that, unlike in other hotels, the obligatory round, red wall ashtray was not fixed, but that there was a nice smoking area outside, with table and cloth, bench with cushions, so that smokers also felt welcome, which is no longer a matter of course these days.
Some ideas for even further improvement:
Nowadays, it would be desirable to have an option for charging an electric car (also for a fee), which could be used without additional special cables (power connection).
I find it inappropriate for people to linger at the Jause buffet in their bathrobes and not worthy of a four-star hotel.
We just returned from 1 week vacation in Bergkönig. Like all hotels, it has pluses and minuses. All in all we enjoyed our stay and all was fine and probably we will come again. I will start with pluses.
1st - Wellness. Amazing outdoor pool, nice relaxation area with water beds, nice saunas. Indoor pool we almost did not use, as the water was too cold for my daughter.
2nd - non alcoholic drinks at breakfast, lunch and dinner included (coffee machine makes different types of coffee, soda machine, sparkling water). At breakfast fresh orange juice machine was available as well as a juicer. We enjoyed fresh orange juice every morning.
3rd - we appreciate free sleds we used every day. They are of good quality, need to be reserved beforehand.
4th - pretty good location in the center of Neustift town. Close to Elferlift and bus stop.
5th - flexible booking conditions with free cancellation of 1 week.
6th - Nespresso coffee machine in the room as well as tea and coffee selection.
Minuses:
1st - we booked a junior suite and expected to have something charming like on the hotel website pictures, but our room was a regular superior room with additional childs room with 2 beds. The furniture was pretty old, especially in childs room. Also doors, door frames all have scratches and look shabby. Definitely need renovation.
2nd - breakfast was poor. No pancakes, no porridge, just the same simple selection of salami, cheese, bread, yogurt, fruits (mostly apples and oranges for the juice). The lady is making eggs and omelets - she is using an old shabby looking frying pan.
The toaster also knew better days.
3rd - lunch at 15.00 - too late, by 3 pm you are starving. You need to either wait or go eat somewhere else or have other snacks.
The food was pretty good at lunch and dinner (except Italian night, which was horrible). Delicious Apfelstrudel at lunch! Breakfast - small choice, but also fresh and of a good quality.
Cleaning - so so. We had a sticky spot near the garbage can for 3 days, it was not cleaned by the maid, at the end I cleaned it myself. The maid also kept coming in very inconvenient time for us. Maybe because we did not ski like most of the guests and had a different schedule.
All in all we would recommend this hotel. Value for money - maybe a bit on the expensive side.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and very clean with an excellent view. There was a wide variety during breakfast and the dinner was great with a lot of options.
We just looooved the pools and wellness area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that could be improved was the quality of the coffee.
WOW. Great hotel with great facilities. Professional staff always smiling and willing to assist. The dinner is amazing and has several varieties for everybody. The spa, pool and the massage are great as well. The hotel offers great afternoon snack with salads, deserts and more.
Each room has backpack you can borrow for hiking in the mountains. We had great time and we will return for sure!!
Beautiful quaint accommodation in the Austrian Alps.|Wonderful hosts, clean and comfortable accommodation. Large two bedroom loft suite suitable for 2 adults and 2 teenage children.|Lovely area to do as much or as little as you like.|Delicious food and wonderful service.
We spent a week here in September and went on many hikes in the area. Both pools were so lovely and the relaxation areas were perfect to read and snuggle in - perfect for when you come back tired from your adventures! Our room was spacious …
An awesome and modern hotel. Beautiful, exclusive spa and wellness area with many room options, and best of all, a warm and welcoming staff who make you feel like you all go back a ways. It’s so natural. Food was incredible with options to meet your wishes. Great location and easy to get around - by car or bus. A must when you’re in the area.
